EPHRAIM'S ARROW--JEWISH STUDIES

Weather By The Hour

Don't forget as you check on the weather to check in with the One who calms the storms!

Fields White To Harvest

Lord, I thought I knew you,

but know the winds have changed.

Tossed away, will you find me?

Can still , my heart be sustained?

Just me and you when things were new,

then the season's storms blew by.

Did I forget to worship you?

Will you come, Lord Jesus to gather us- your sheep.

For the days grow long and still,

If we watch and wait, will you hear us yet-

Can we stand strong to do you will?

The wheat has been blowing in that field,

While the laborers are so few.

What then, now are we waiting for?

Can hardened hearts become like new?

Safely can we stay behind you,

as we march with your trumpet sound?

Or- have we stayed and hid so long now,

   That our roots dry underground?

I pray Lord that you will find me.

I pray not to be ashamed.

I seek you when it's early Lord.

I pray not to fall away.

So come Lord Jesus come quickly-

The terrible day is at hand.

I pray we'll all be steadfast.

So you may strengthen our spirits ,

as we stand.

Truth About Islam and Christianity

Link to hear program and podcast

Title:  A Time For Christ

Hear an interview with Daniel Shayesteh.  Dr Daniel was born in Northern Iran. He found renewed faith in Islam throughout his university years, becoming a radical Muslim leader and teacher of Islam in the militant Free Islamic Revolutionary Movement, closely supporting Ayatollah Khomeini in his ultimate rise to power.  They helped exile of the Shah (king of Iran) giving power to the Islamic Fundamentalist Government.  However, after falling out of favour with Khomeini's political group, he escaped to Turkey where there began an amazing journey to faith in Jesus Christ.  Daniel established the organization ‘Exodus from Darkness’.

This time of the year more than ever--the importance of Jesus birth throughout the world is evident. In spite of the troubles and persecutions, God's Word says to ask in Jesus name. Hear this interview on shining the light in the darkness of Islam. God is sovereign today, yesterday and tomorrow and his Son Jesus saves.  Nothing else works.

Best Schools In America--Where Are They?

Alexis de Tocqueville wrote of his travels through America in the early 19th Century and he observed:
  • "Moreover, almost all the sects of the United States are comprised within the great unity of Christianity, and Christian morality is everywhere the same. In the United States the sovereign authority is religious, and consequently hypocrisy must be common; but there is no country in the whole world in which the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and there can be no greater proof of its utility, and of its conformity to human nature, than that its influence is most powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth.
  • The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other; and with them this conviction does not spring from that barren traditionary faith which seems to vegetate in the soul rather than to live.
  • There are certain populations in Europe whose unbelief is only equaled by their ignorance and their debasement, while in America one of the freest and most enlightened nations in the world fulfills all the outward duties of religion with fervor."
The above reminds us where the best schools were in America.  It is time America studied its history and go back to the ways that worked.  Let us learn:
  • We have tried making so many rules for our children--yet we have raised generations who care not about laws.
  • We have tried spending more money for better bigger schools--yet the majority of these schools are failling and drop out rates are increasing.
  • We have tried to make them learn in more modern, technological ways yet we are falling  behind as a nation.
  • What could be wrong?  Well the answer is what was the key to America when Alexader de Tocquiville came and what he found was the same mindset that raised a great nation.
America was one of the most literate nations then?  What are we now.  The freedoms we were given-paid for with blood, sweat and tears have been squandered like pearls in the troth for pigs.  We no longer look at the responsibility that comes with that freedom (we even think the Founders equate that with the right to burn our Flag.)  Have we gotten so smart that we have lost our common sense too!
Observation then and now to better schools:
  • First thing should be the fear or awe of the Lord--it is the beginning of wisdom.
  • The Founders knew that and no national standards, school system, administrator, educator can ever truly lead this nation to the right path without that right foundation.
  • Study the formula the Founders had which started with God--why not do it again, after all that was their intent for their posterity "One nation under God".

Link for perspectives from people in the know of what's wrong with the common core standards being set for today's children.

May God bless America and may God help America with true leaders that know where our help comes from for great is the nation who fears the Lord.  The opposite will be what was in John Winthrop's warning when America is no longer a "city on a hill."

The Military--Where Does The Warrior's Help Come From

Hear an update from John Bernard on the war on terror. We can not appreciate our military families enough and his family is one who gave their best and so should all of us. There is no excuse for not being informed--we owe it as part of our duty as co-laborers in the fight to keep this nation truly free from tyranny.  Pastor Matt Smith of Barabbas Road Church joins him as they help the warrior with the battles they and their families face.  Men of valor throughout history had to face to find the truth to survive---so can you.  Hear some moving perspectives that gives hope to mankind and unites people like Mosab Hassan Yousef (son of a Hamas founder) with the Joshua Bernards of this world.  Click on picture to hear interview.  Go to podsite link on right if you wish to pass it on to friends with smartphones and there is an app for this on itunes.

Morning Has Broken--Another Great Awakening

Hope is in the air.  Something that has always been but not many see as there.  I read Mark 11:22-25 and saw it in a different light.

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Recently I have asked of God  things which seemed impossible--facts were all against it happening, as a matter of fact the decks were stacked literally sky high to the contrary of what I asked.  Yet, three times God showed himself as the Lord of the unseen and what I asked came brightly through.  Could it be coincidences--not to me.  It was someone up above teaching me a lesson for His Word is true.  I believe the lesson for me is that He comes through at the darkest time to prove what no one else can do but my Savior.  He can stop time and only He can calm the storms of my life (as well as yours) and to top it all He parts the clouds and lets His light, His love shine through.  How awesome is that!

In John 18:37--Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Hope you'll seek him as I have for awesome is He who loved us so much He sent his only Son to show us the way so that we can live with him in heaven for eternity.  It is a gift like no other.  Hope you will accept it.  Many have heard, many have even sung about it.   I heard the song "Morning Has Broken" sung by Steve Green and it felt like listening to music heralding God's best for me--it awaits.  But I also realized there are others who even with a gift of music can't see past the sound to the truth--Cat Stevens is one of those.  What a paradox Steve Green and Cat Stevens both sung "Morning Has Broken" but only one tasted God's Word.  Hope you will taste for yourself and see for He is good and his love endures forever!
