EPHRAIM'S ARROW--JEWISH STUDIES

Weather By The Hour

Don't forget as you check on the weather to check in with the One who calms the storms!

Fields White To Harvest

Lord, I thought I knew you,

but know the winds have changed.

Tossed away, will you find me?

Can still , my heart be sustained?

Just me and you when things were new,

then the season's storms blew by.

Did I forget to worship you?

Will you come, Lord Jesus to gather us- your sheep.

For the days grow long and still,

If we watch and wait, will you hear us yet-

Can we stand strong to do you will?

The wheat has been blowing in that field,

While the laborers are so few.

What then, now are we waiting for?

Can hardened hearts become like new?

Safely can we stay behind you,

as we march with your trumpet sound?

Or- have we stayed and hid so long now,

   That our roots dry underground?

I pray Lord that you will find me.

I pray not to be ashamed.

I seek you when it's early Lord.

I pray not to fall away.

So come Lord Jesus come quickly-

The terrible day is at hand.

I pray we'll all be steadfast.

So you may strengthen our spirits ,

as we stand.

Samson-Geneva Shootings

Tuesday, March the 10th 2009 is a day with events that will be forever remembered in these small southern towns. All eyes are turned to this neck of the woods as many calls it. Geneva County and Coffee County shares deep memories of losses in the month of March. Coffee County with the March 1st tornado in 2007 and now with the March 10th losses of 10 innocent people by a lone gunman haunted in his mind with a need to infict pain and that he did and these quiet small towns will never be the same.

All the networks are here as attention has been focused on this horrendous nightmare. In an instant these are no more:

Michael Kenneth McLendon, 28, of Kinston--gunman

His mother 52--Lisa White McLendon

His uncle 55--James Alford White

His first cousin 34--Tracy Michelle Wise

His cousin’s son-15--Dean James Wise

His grandmother-74 Virginia White

Others

Neighbor 31--Andrea D. Myers and Corinne-18 mo. daughter

James Irvin Starling-- passerby

Sonja Lolley Smith--43 at gas station

Bruce Wilson Malloy---51 driving on hwy

We will never know what really happened in Michael's mind but some of these things were probably there--depression, frustration, anger and last but not least loss of hope. I believe we all experience bits of depression as life is not always good and sometimes it is very bad as the psalmist refers to the miry pit--I believe depression is that. For those of us who know Christ --he is our hope--and though we can be wracked with pain today we need to always be sure to give everything to God in prayer. It is our first defense and best defense. So if you are depressed or feeling down be sure to always say a quick prayer before you sleepeven when you don't feel like it for God hears you and tomorrow the sun will shine--the birds will chirp--and yes, the earth didn't fall underneath your feet. And if you don't really know Christ --then it's time to really get to know him--as life doesn't get easier--and there is nowhere you can hide from the enemy--not even in small quiet towns. There is a place you can find refuge and it is in the shelter of God's wings--a supernatural shelter but a very poweful force--that is your help--but it only comes from having a relationship-- not a head knowledge of Christ. City on a Hill Radio Show hopes to air some future messages that will help each of us deal with the miry pits of life. In the meantime--count your blessings--don't focus on self--focus on Christ and then on others--and be careful what you feed your mind. David sang songs to Saul to quiet his soul--get inspiring Christian songs to lift you up and fill your mind with thoughts that are holy, good and pure. Don't just feed the body--feed the mind with good things for it matters. May God bless you and remember with God all things are possible--put your hope in him not in yourself-- because all will fail us--even our own selves but God never fails us nor forsakes us. Call on your heavenly Father--He is just a prayer away.
