EPHRAIM'S ARROW--JEWISH STUDIES

Weather By The Hour

Don't forget as you check on the weather to check in with the One who calms the storms!

Fields White To Harvest

Lord, I thought I knew you,

but know the winds have changed.

Tossed away, will you find me?

Can still , my heart be sustained?

Just me and you when things were new,

then the season's storms blew by.

Did I forget to worship you?

Will you come, Lord Jesus to gather us- your sheep.

For the days grow long and still,

If we watch and wait, will you hear us yet-

Can we stand strong to do you will?

The wheat has been blowing in that field,

While the laborers are so few.

What then, now are we waiting for?

Can hardened hearts become like new?

Safely can we stay behind you,

as we march with your trumpet sound?

Or- have we stayed and hid so long now,

   That our roots dry underground?

I pray Lord that you will find me.

I pray not to be ashamed.

I seek you when it's early Lord.

I pray not to fall away.

So come Lord Jesus come quickly-

The terrible day is at hand.

I pray we'll all be steadfast.

So you may strengthen our spirits ,

as we stand.

Honoring a Soldier's Request To Pass This On

This is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad. For those who take the time to read it,you'll see a letter from him to his Dad at the bottom.  It makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.

THE MARINE

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't bitch, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.

Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won
.

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done
.

Hey Dad,
Do me a favor and label this "The Marine"
and send it to everybody on your email list.  Even leave this letter in it.  I want this rolling all over the US ; I want every home reading it.  Every eye seeing it.  And every heart to feel it.  So can you please send this for me?

I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway.

 You know what Dad?

I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech.

"When the time comes to lay down my life for my country,
I do not cower from this responsibility.

I welcome it."
Well, now I know.

And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do.

Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife,

and I will miss the birth of our first born child

I would do it 70 times over to fight for

the place that God has made for my home.

I love you all and I miss you very much

I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby,

but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing,

I will be coming home soon.

Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.
Aaron
Please let this marine (and all our military

know we care by passing his poem onto your friends

even if you don't usually take time to forward mail...do it this time!
Thanks,

If this touched you as much as it touched me,

please forward it on.
Let's help Aaron's dad spread the word ..

FREEDOM isn't FREE
someone pays for you and me.

Jesus--the Light and giver of Eternal Life

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly  that what he has done has been done through God."  John 3:16-21

This world looks for truth and many do not find it--but when man humbles himself and asks--the truth will come--He waits.  Our chaplain's knows the truth and they need to proclaim it for many serves in very dark places and only Jesus name can penetrate the darkness.  Please remember to pray for the soldiers and chaplains that lay down their life so that you and I can live in freedom.  Take their request for us here at home to fight the good fight and help keep our rights in this nation where freedom can roam freely.

Not by might nor by power but by my spirit

Benjamin Franklin said ----

In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection.- Our prayers, Sir, were heard, graciously answered....

On July 9, 1776, the Continental Congress authorized the Continental Army to provide chaplains for their troops.  General George Washington thenissued the order and appointed chaplains to every regiment.

On August 27, 1776, British Gen. Howe had trapped Gen. Washington and 8,000 troops on Long Island.  Gen. Howe intended to crush them the next morning.  Washington with the use of any and all kinds of vessels spent the night moving his men across the East River.  Morning came and there were still large numbers of men that needed to be moved but the fog did not lift but stayed thick enough and lasted 'til Washington and his men could escape.  Never again did the British have such a rare chance of capturing this army.

This now is the year 2006, and we are also in a great battle--but as the founding fathers sought God's help daily for divine protection have we forgot about the importance of daily praying for those who fight to keep us free.  They fight so that you and I do not have to fight here at home.  They fight and we get to enjoy the benefits in our daily living with friends and families.  Please let us join together in reminding each other to hold our military up in daily prayers and in other opportunities such as in our Sunday school and various meetings where prayer is held.  It is a spiritual battle as well as a physical battle and we must do our part and maybe... just maybe our prayers will be graciously answered by Almighty God.

Please join in this pledge to remember to pray for our military daily and to mention them in all prayer meetings we attend.  Remember his word in Zechariah 4:6  "Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit" says the Lord Almighty.

Micah 7:7  Therefore I will look unto the Lord; Iwill wait for he God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
